“How every IM-20
student can do better than Amit Shah.”
If the title was not intriguing enough, the session was.
What do you think you may be doing 6 years after passing out of NITIE?? May be tussling for promotions or finding reasons why are you hating your job but not Mr. Amit Shah. We met him on a rainy morning on a weekend and our preconceived notion was that it was going to be just another session.(We didn’t know much about him before the session). But it was not to be. When we came to know that he was the Executive Vice President and Country Head of Corporate Branding, Marketing and Strategic Communication at Yes Bank and that too withing six years of passing out from NITIE, people want to listen to you.
His presentation was a little different from others in the sense that he was talking about what you are, and what you can become by working on which skills/competencies. Be it his informal way of talking to us or the ease with which he made things look easy, everything has a bit of awe in it.
As for me, I had never seen a person with such a high stature talk live in front of me and more than anything, I was amazed by the fact that how down to earth people can be even when they reach great heights in life. Anyways, he also told us that we can pursue whichever specialization in NITIE as long as we are determined to fight, build the right competencies required for it and balance it with the skills we already have.
The session concluded with a momento being presented to Mr Shah on behalf of NITIE.
Sessions end but the thought remains. I hope the thoughts remain etched in my mind forever.
